About the Founder

Agnes Chavez, is an artist, educator, curriculum developer and the founder of the Sube Teaching Language thru Art, Music & Games program. She started an afterschool program in 1996 when her son, Silviano Chavez Romero, was two years old. Her passion was to help Hispanic children preserve their native language, and to encourage all children to learn Spanish as a second language. Within a year the program was so successful she was hired to teach her unique teaching system in a private school where she refined her methodology and decided to produce a complet kit to help other teachers do the same. Since then Sube has added an ESL kit, and can be found in over 1000 schools, nationally and internationally. A team of language specialists and loyal teacher/customers continually work to improve the curriculum making sure it meets the unique your needs as a language teacher.

As developer of the Sube program, Ms. Chavez handles all customer support which is free with the purchase of the Sube product. That means that when you contact us with questions about the product you receive quality training and support.

Journey with Sube

Digital Storytelling

We are dedicated to finding innovative ways to teach languages to children. Sube has evolved from an after-school language program developed in 1996 by a bilingual mother, artist and teacher implementing hands-on methods for engaging kids through art and games, to a complete research-based model for language instruction in diverse classroom environments. We stay up to date on the latest research and make sure our curriculum is aligned to national and international standards.

When you purchase the Sube materials you become part of our Journey with Sube project. We travel the world to find the most amazing teachers and communities dedicated to preserving linguistic and biocultural diversity. A portion of Sube's proceeds are donated to these unique schools and organizations. If you know of someone that you would like to recommend for the Journey with Sube project, please contact us. This section is being developed. Please check back!

We discovered Digital Storytelling as a powerful tool for sharing our language and culture through storytelling. See how this new medium allows us to capture the stories of our elders, record stories in native languages, or to listen to the voices of our youth.
