Completing the curriculum in one year requires providing a Spanish class
every day for 45 minutes a day five days a week. The duration of the
curriculum depends on how often you teach Spanish to your class. If you
teach one hour a week in a summer program, or within a school year that
averages 8 months, you will find that you can not complete all the
activities in the curriculum in one year. You can do the short version
in
which you complete a unit in one month and omit the enhancements,
alternative projects and cut back on the ongoing activities (see
overview
planner in sample page). if you want to implement the long version with
all
the activities it will take a minimum of 2 months to complete the unit,
in
depth. So for example, if you choose to extend the Beginner kit Level A
for
two years (K and 1st grade) then implement Level B after they complete
it in
2nd grade and 3rd grade, your students will be at an intermediate level
of
Spanish (See evaluation charts in sample page) and ready for an advanced
level. We are planning to have the advanced level developed in a few
years,
but at that point if it is still not available they will be ready to
move
into any advanced level program.
